Riverside Community Nursery School

Riverside Nursery offers places for 3-5 year olds and is situated in Riverside Primary School. We are an early years unit and work closely with the Foundation Stage children which enables the older children to become good role-models for the younger children and allows different learning opportunities for all abilities. The Early Years Unit includes 3 classrooms and a nursery which includes 2 smaller rooms, a creative area and an excellent outside facility.

A visit from Brunel!

Today Nursery had a fantastic guest speaker (Adrian Chapman) in to school to play the part of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

We got to hear lots of great facts and learnt how different bridges were made that he built. We carried out an experiment to see which plasticine boat sank in the water and looked at the difference of wide train tracks to slimmer ones.

We all listened very well and enjoyed hearing about the life of Brunel, then we created our own bridges and were awarded certificates from Brunel himself!
