Nature nursery - Wands

Today we read the story of Cinderella whilst having hot chocolate around the fire. We then toasted marshmallows carefully on our sticks before turning them into magic wands. We had to find the hidden ribbons in the environment and choose some for our magic wands. Then we did some spells and explored the area. I made everyone disappear. Can you see where they hid?

Decoration's Day

What a fun glitter filled day we had making Christmas decorations. There was such a variety from reindeer food, wreath making, biscuit decorating, snowman, trees and father Christmas puppets. The children really enjoyed spending time with their parents and showing them around.  I hope you enjoyed the day!

Number 2

This week we have enjoyed watching number blocks ‘another one’, which adds one more to make number 2. We have sung the song 2 little dickie birds and made 2 soup using 2 of each object. We looked at 2 on the 5/frame and noticed there was 3 gaps. We shall keep looking at number 2 next week.

The Enormous Turnip

This week we are reading The Enormous Turnip and completing lots of activities linked to it. We have done vegetable printing, observational drawings of vegetables, used pasta and lentils to make pictures and made vegetable soup. We have acted out the story too and our words of the week were gigantic and enormous.

International day

All the children joined in for the International day within the school, we mixed with the foundation children and  got to try different activities in the unit. Our country is France and the children enjoyed all the activities within the room. We learnt that the capital city of France is Paris, spoke French for hello and goodbye and tried French cheeses and pain au chocolate and made French flags. The other classrooms had Welsh cakes, Belgium chocolate, waffles and buns and Danish waffles.

We all enjoyed dressing up today and telling everyone about the story we were from. Some children were able to re-tell some of the stories really well and we even had some frozen songs!

Vegetable Soup

On Tuesday the children made a vegetable soup. They had a go at peeling the vegetables and chopping them up.  We talked about what the different vegetables were and used our senses to explore what they smelt like.  They then got to try the soup. Some children said it was yummy but some children didn’t like it, but at least they gave it a try.
