We made patterns using different colored bricks and Duplo and we made arrangements with 2D shapes. Using the notion that a butterfly's wings are symmetrical we all had a go at making our own patterns. For some it was a little tricky at first but we got the hang of it and learnt that symmetry means the pattern is the 'same' on the other side.
Our objectives this week were:
Notices simple shapes and
patterns in pictures. (22-36)
Shows an interest in shape
and space by playing with shapes and arrangements
(30-50)
Shows interest in shape by
sustained construction activity or by talking about arrangements (30-50)
|
Use familiar objects and shapes to create and recreate patterns and build models (40-60)
