Welly walk - Hedgehogs

This week we have enjoyed splashing in puddles in the rain and then we collected leaves to make our hedgehog pictures later.  Because of the very windy and rainy weather we had our hot chocolate and marshmallows inside and read our story of the 'wide awake hedgehog'.  We then used the leaves we had collected to make pictures of a hedgehog.

The Number One

This week in maths we have been learning all about the number one.  We have had a number one tea party and were only allowed one of each item, we have looked at one counter on a five frame and played one/ not one.  We also enjoyed finding the one counter under the cup!

The Gingerbread man

This week we have been looking at the story of the Gingerbread man in Nursery.  We have experimented to see what happens to different materials in water.  We found out the biscuit 'was soggy' and broke apart so understood why the gingerbread man didn't want to get wet!  We then made our own boats with different materials to see if we could find a safe way across for the gingerbread man.  We also made our own gingerbread men and luckily they didn't run away!  We also read other versions of the story like the gingerbread bunny.

Natural art

On our welly walk this week we collected lots of natural things we could find.  We used leaves, sticks and pine cones to then paint a picture.  We enjoyed our story of the Gingerbread Man and had hot chocolate and marshmallows.

Jack and the beanstalk

4.11.22 -  Our story this term is Jack and the Beanstalk. Today when we came into Nursery someone had knocked over our tables and left some giant footprints. They had also left some golden feathers, golden eggs and some gold coins. We investigated and decided it might have been the giant from Jack and the beanstalk! We read the story and will be working on this story all term. Can your children tell you some of the story?

11.11.22 - This week we drew the characters of the story and planted beans.

25.11.22 - This week for Jack and the Beanstalk we acted out the story and then did painting with mud, made gold coins with potato printing, cut out and stuck together a beanstalk. We also worked in groups to draw story maps.

Maths - Sizes

In maths this week we have been looking at more and less. We have been having a tea party and seeing who has the most food and also how we can make it fair by sharing it out. We have also looked at who was the tallest and who was the shortest and order the Three bears bowls, cups and spoons. We have been using lots of mathematical language such as biggest, smallest, smaller, bigger etc.
